About Me

Abirami R – For as long as I can remember, the sound of a handloom and the soft touch of pure silk have been the backdrop of my life. I grew up watching the women in my family drape themselves in vibrant colors, and I became fascinated by how a single piece of fabric could carry so much grace and history. To me, a silk saree is never just something you wear; it is a piece of art that keeps our Tamil Nadu traditions alive. I have spent years visiting weaving centers and talking to masters of the craft to understand the difference between a simple cloth and a masterpiece.

My passion goes beyond just looking at the beauty of the silk. I have made it my mission to learn the technical side of weaving—the weight of the zari, the strength of the silk thread, and the meaning behind every traditional motif. I know how hard it is for a buyer today to find a saree that is truly authentic and worth the investment. There is so much misinformation out there, and my goal is to be the voice you can trust to help you find real, high-quality weaves that you can pass down to your children.

The turning point in my journey came from my husband, Rajarajan. He saw the way my eyes lit up every time I spoke about the looms and the weavers. He was the one who insisted that my knowledge shouldn’t stay hidden and encouraged me to start my own silk boutique. It was his belief in my vision that gave me the courage to move from being a collector to a business owner. This boutique is a dream we are building together, rooted in my love for our culture and his support for my passion.

Before I officially open the doors to my boutique, I feel it is important to share what I have learned with you. I don’t want to just sell you a product; I want you to understand the soul of what you are buying. This is why I am focusing heavily on Thirubuvanam silk sarees. These sarees are special because of their unique folding style and the way the body and border are woven together with incredible strength. They represent a specific part of our heritage that deserves to be celebrated and understood by every saree lover.

I will guide you through the intricate details of these weaves. I will show you how to identify genuine silk, how to appreciate the heavy gold work of Thirubuvanam, and how to spot the small details that make a saree a true heirloom. My hope is that by the time my shop is ready, you will not just be a customer, but a knowledgeable collector who loves these sarees as much as I do.
